Village offices have moved to the Lake Street Historic District in an effort renovate the area and attract businesses. The Bergen Swamp is a unique natural habitat that’s great for exploring, with rare plants and rare and endangered species of animals. White-tailed deer, rattlesnakes and spotted turtles are among the animals you’ll find here. Brockport and the Erie Canal are only nine miles north; Churchville (and Churchville County Park) in Monroe County is less than four miles east. Interstate 490 has an exit in Bergen, making it a bedroom community between the busier Rochester and Batavia.

Local Museums/Landmarks
The Bergen Swamp is the most visible landmark and is a great place for hiking. The Harford Livery Museum, a relatively new museum, is in the center of town and includes exhibits related to the Civil War. The Bergen Museum of Local History is on Lake Road. Just 10 miles southeast of Bergen is the Genesee Country Village & Museum, a “living history” museum in Mumford (in Monroe County).
